Dr Duane Mellor 

Nutrition and Dietetic Consultant

Dr Duane Mellor is a dietician, educator and researcher with over 20 years of experience. Initially working in the NHS as a dietician mainly specialising in diabetes and obesity before moving on to undertake a PhD at the University of Hull where he investigated the effects of chocolate on cardiovascular risk in people with type 2 diabetes. After completing his PhD research he moved on to a number of university roles in Chester, Nottingham, Canberra and Coventry. Alongside his university work he has been an active member of the Diabetes UK Nutrition Working Group helping to develop the 2011 and 2018 nutritional management guidelines for the prevention and management of diabetes. He is also a committee member for the diabetes specialist interest group of the British Dietetic Association and is a Director of the British Dietetic Association. He is an active writer having published 5 book chapters, over 50 academic papers and over 20 nutrition based media articles as well as making appearances on TV and radio talking about diet and health. He has a passion for evidence informed nutritional advice and is keen to share this with others
